Local Events - August 2023

Soaking up the last month of Summer! Explore events all Oakland County in Rochester, Lake Orion, and Auburn Hills. Check out the events happening in your area below:   

 

Rochester

Downtown Rochester Farmers Market: See you at the market! Bring friends and family every Saturday in the month of August from 8AM-1PM to enjoy a variety of vendors at the Downtown Rochester Farmers Market. The market features a variety of fresh produce, herbs, flowers, specialty foods, and more!

August 10th, Blossom Springs Classic Car Show: Stroll the parking lot of Blossom Springs and enjoy an assortment of classic cars on display! Music, light refreshments, and group tours from 6:00 – 7:30PM. Find the event details here.

August 16, 23 & 30th, Music & Me Wednesday at the Village of Rochester Hills: Children will be able to sing, dance, and interact with each other during this fun morning performance. Bring a blanket and be prepared to be inspired by the musical talents of your children. This class is geared towards children birth to five years old. The program recognizes early childhood music for infants to kindergartners with adult involvement. These events are FREE event to attend.

August 5, 12, 19, 26th, Movies in the Moonlight: Movies in the Moonlight is located in the parking lot at the corner of E. Third & Water, one block east of Main.  Featured movies begin at dusk (approximately 9:15 pm) and pre-shows start at 8:30 pm.  Admission is free, mark your calendar! Find the schedule here.

 

Lake Orion

LOLive! Gazebo Concert Series: Every Monday in the month of July, enjoy a free concert in Children’s Park from 6:30-8:00PM. Bring your own lawn chair and lounge in the heart of downtown. View the schedule here.

August 5th, Brave the Wave Competition: Michigan Wave Makers, LLC began in 2017 to bring the thrill of the jet ski competition world to the great state of Michigan. The community of Lake Orion is proud to be hosting events that will bring jet ski riders from around the country to compete in freestyle events, as well as a races with a generous prize purse for the winners in each category. Watch it all happen from 11- 6:30PM. More info here.

August 12 – 13th, Canterbury Village Dog Fest: Bring your dog. Kids can have fun looking for paw prints around the village, which they can turn in for candy and other small prizes. Multiple dog rescue organizations on site and they’ll be accepting donations for their great causes. $5 tickets in advance.  Buy tickets here.

August 24 – 27th, Dragon On the Lake: The Orion Art Center proudly presents the 14th Annual Dragon on the Lake Festival in downtown Lake Orion.   With Dragon Boat Races on Lake Orion, an Art Fair, a Chalk Art Contest, the Little Dragon Den, the Dragon Pub, a Tiki Tent, live music + more, this end of summer celebration can't be missed! Auburn Hills

July 31st – August 4th, Topgolf Summer Academy 2023: This program includes all of the components that make up the great game of golf. From chipping, putting and full swing, to the rules and etiquette, kids will learn everything they need to know to improve their game. The weekly schedule runs from 9AM-12PM. Register here.

August 24th, Blue Skies Brewery Comedy Night: Come see 4 amazing Metro Detroit comedians at Blue Skies Brewery in downtown Auburn Hills. Doors Open 7 PM - Show Starts 7:30 PM - $10 Tickets. More info here.

Every Friday in August, Summer Music Series: Enjoy a variety of free live music downtown this summer at the Knight Amphitheater on Friday nights from 7 PM to 8:30 PM. Find the full schedule here.
